Enamel and acrylic.
Threading the Needle in III is an exploration of color, shape, and rhythm, using enamel and acrylic. In this piece, Michaels’ pushes the boundaries of her medium, experimenting on raw canvas to craft a multidimensional surface that invites both the artist and viewer into a dialogue of discovery.
As part of a pop series of scrolls, this work is driven by playful explorations of form and color. The careful interplay of geometric shapes, vibrant hues, and rhythmic movement creates a dynamic tension within the piece. The bold black lines serve as a structural pull, tying the elements together with a sense of cohesion and balance. The result is a composition that blends spontaneity with precision, offering both visual engagement and conceptual depth.
Threading the Needle in III was completed in the summer of 2011 at the artist’s studio in New York.
