"Venus to Mars II" is a part of the "Pop Movements" series of works focusing on geometric, color, and rhythm that unlock the keys to our magical kingdom. Michaels has explored the complex interaction of color and shape by experimenting on raw canvas with the possibility of achieving a multidimensional surface for her and the viewer. In this painting, Venus is the blue orb. Mars is in the red rectangular bar. The black staff is the "stairway to heaven." The overall impression of "Venus to Mars" is accessed by taking the stairway to heaven, where they both reside. The shapes, lines, and colors symbolize the unity of natural and spiritual forces forming the relationships between art and life.
Completed in the winter of 2022 at the artist's studio in Soho, New York. The mediums in the painting are enamel and acrylic.
