The Red Sea IV is the fourth in a series that began in 2011 by Michaels'. The Red Sea collection explores the interplay of geometrics, color, and rhythm, unlocking the keys to boundless potential. The vibrant red background in each work is paired with the sun—represented by an open circle—symbolizing room for growth, expansion, and limitless possibility. The surrounding white elements, reminiscent of waves, evoke a sense of fluidity, movement, and energy.
Historically, red was the first color developed for painting and dyeing, associated with wealth, power, and vitality. In this piece, red becomes a symbol of love, passion, adventure, and boundless energy. The dynamic use of red and white creates a vivid, energetic dialogue, where the sun’s openness and the waves’ fluid motion convey the powerful forces of nature and the human spirit.
"Red Sea IV" was completed in the fall of 2013 at the artist's studio in Chelsea, New York. The medium in the painting is enamel.
