Beyond the Horizon explores the quiet power of emergence, capturing moments where color, light, and form extend beyond what is seen into what is felt. Each piece invites the viewer to cross perceptual thresholds to stand at the edge of the known and witness the unfolding of something greater. In these works, horizons are  beginnings: spaces where radiance, rhythm, and silence converge, calling us into a deeper relationship with the world around us and the inner landscapes within.

Colored ©2025 meditates on the essence of color itself, the way it can define, divide, and unify. The work flows through a spectrum of hues, with each section subtly transitioning into the next, creating an oscillation between tones. These rhythmic shifts of color suggest movement, like the pulse of a living entity. The palette itself, ranging from vibrant oranges and reds to soft creams, reflects a harmony of opposites—warmth and coolness, boldness and calm. At the work’s edge, a deep blue provides a moment of stillness, offering a counterbalance to the vibrant energy flowing through the rest of the composition. This interplay between colors and capturing the essence of contrast and the quiet harmony that emerges from it.

(Tracing Light) a Page in History captures the instant when illumination becomes tangible—the moment between emergence and disappearance. Layers of pale blue and soft white create a horizon of breath, while a single passage of ember red pulses across the field like memory moving through silence. The surface holds both stillness and momentum, a quiet architecture of renewal. It is a study in restraint and release, in how light reveals structure even as it dissolves it.

Unclassified No. 6, Through the Window” embodies the quiet, suspended rhythm of observation—the moment before interpretation takes hold. With its pale, misted greens and a soft blush of rose along one edge, the canvas suggests a landscape that is both present and receding, like light filtered through glass.

Michaels allows the surface to breathe; thin washes and enamel drifts create a translucent depth, recalling the shifting veils of morning light. The work holds a meditative stillness, a restraint that draws the viewer into the act of perception itself. It asks for time—the kind of looking that feels like remembering.

Part of the Unclassified series, this painting moves between architecture and atmosphere, between the known and the sensed. It offers not a subject, but a condition—a way of seeing through and beyond the visible. In this liminal space, the canvas becomes a window: one that looks inward as much as outward.

Horizons at Dawn is a luminous composition where ethereal mint, lemon, and pale coral drift into a grounded alabaster field. A subtle horizon line vibrates with textural energy, evoking the stillness before dawn and the silent pause before a new knowing arrives. Completed in 2025 at the artist’s Soho, New York studio, this work invites a quiet but powerful presence into any space – a visual threshold between what has been and what is yet to come. 60 x 60 inches (152.4 x 152.4 cm)
